Kollywood stars @ National Awards
Veteran filmmaker K Balachander was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2010.
Dhanush has received the National Award Best Actor award from President Pratibha Patil.
Kollywood who were honoured with National Awards at the function were Saranya Ponvannan (Best Actress - 'Thenmerku Paruvakaatru'), Vairamuthu (Best Lyricist - 'Thenmerku Paruvakaatru'), Vetrimaran (Best Screenplay and Direction - 'Aadukalam'), Thambi Ramaiah (Best Supporting Actor - 'Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru'), Kishore (Best Editing - 'Aadukalam'), Dinesh (Best Choreography - 'Aadukalam') and a special award for Jayapalan, who beautifully enacted the Pettaikaran role in 'Aadukalam'.

World Suicide Prevention Day
China has one of the highest suicide rates in the world with a person trying to kill himself every two minutes, even as the country propels itself to emerge as one of the richest nations.
Two million Chinese attempt suicide every year constituting 3.6 per cent of the total deaths annually, according to an official study.
The survey ranked suicide as the fifth leading cause of death and a primary reason for death of people aged between 15 to 34 years in China, Xinhua reported.

India celebrates Anna's victory.
The 74-year-old Gandhian accepted a glass of tender coconut water mixed with honey from a Dalit and a Muslim girl -- Simran and Ikrah -- at 10:20 am on the dais at the Ramlila Ground ending over 288 hours of fast that began on August 16.
Around 80 volunteers were in action at the ground all day and night to provide security to Hazare.
History was made in Parliament on Saturday when the two Houses bowed to Anna Hazare's campaign, powered by a groundswell of popular support, for a strong and independent Lokpal.

Nitya Annadanam complex which can feed about 75,000 devotees each day at Tirumala
The massive complex has been built by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams at a cost of Rs 33 crore and has four massive dining halls, which can seat a thousand persons each, at a time
Besides the Nitya Annadanam complex, the President also launched the free 'roti-sabzi' scheme for pilgrims from North India at Tirumala and also unveiled a state-of-the art Roti Making machine which can produce 2000 rotis every hour.
The Annadanam complex is part of the TTD's free food scheme which was introduced on April 6, 1985. The Annadanam complex will be open for 12 hours a day.

Facebook CEO joins Google+ ...(Maybe Gossip)
The Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has joined in Google+ (Google Plus), the recently announced social networking site from search engine Google. But, Google has not yet confirmed it. Google said that it doesn't authenticate user names.
We don't know who invited Zuckerberg to the Google+ party, but people who are currently on Google+ can search and find him.
There's always a possibility that this is someone pretending to be Zuckerberg, but it looks pretty convincing. Plus, Zuck has 13 friends in his circles, many of which are Facebook employees, including Facebook�s CTO Bret Taylor, software engineers Zach Rait and Arjun Banker, director of product Blake Ross, product designer Francis Luu, and product manager Justin Shaffer.
Currently, Google Plus is available to limited users and some of them can invite their friends to their Circles. Unlike the Facebook, Google+ allows users to make separate Circles with selected friends. Posts, messages and links posted in this Circle will be available to the members of the particular Circle only

Simple tips to make your skin Glow
Mix yoghurt with cucumber water. Apply on your face and wash it off
Coconut milk is excellent for skin care, especially in winter. Take half a cup of coconut milk. Use half of it to apply it over the face and body. Mix the rest with red sandalwood powder, apply the paste on the face. It can also be applied all over the body. It exfoliates your skin.
Is your skin looking dull and lifeless? Mix coconut water and thick pineapple juice. Add multani mitti and apply it over your face and body. Do not scrub vigorously; wash it off with ice cubes or cold water.
Here's a way to refresh tired skin: Mix one teaspoon vinegar with one teaspoon rosewater. Apply on skin and leave for 10 minutes. Wash it off with ordinary water.
Mix one teaspoon honey with one teaspoon tomato juice. Leave it on the face or body for 10 minutes and wash it off with ordinary water.

100 % Cut-Off A Shocker...Delhi University admission
The way Delhi University cutoffs have been spiralling, it had to happen someday. On Tuesday, it did. The first cut-off for BCom (H) at the Shri Ram College of Commerce reached an unbelievable 100% for the non-commerce aspirants.
This means, humanities and science students wanting admission in BCom (H) at SRCC will need to have 100% marks in their best-of-four subjects! In other words, no non-commerce student will be admitted in the course, at least in the first list.

Aparichitudu received Doctorate from Italy University of Milan
Actor Chiyaan Vikram has been conferred with the Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts in Acting. The Doctorate is Conferred to him by Universita Popolare Degli Studi Di Milano (UUPN) which is to be a 110 years old renowned and ancient University in Italy. It is commonly called as People’s University of Milan.
Actor Chiyaan Vikram is the First Indian Actor in the History of the European Universities receiving the Doctorate in Acting. Prof Dr.Marco Grapecia, President of the University along with the Vice President and the other Syndicate Members of the University conferred Doctorate to Actor Chiyaan Vikram on 29.05.2011.
Vice President of West Africa and Member of Planning Commission of China were also invited as the Guest to honour the Awardees. After Receiving the Doctorate Chiyan Vikram Addressed the Gathering and accepted the honour.
