A MAN in Mizoram has 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren -- all living together under one roof in a picturesque village about 100 km from Baktawng in the north of the state.

The head of the family and leader of the "Chana" sect -- which allows polygamy -- is 66-year-old Ziona Chana who lives with his family in a 100-room, four-storyed house named ''Chhuan That Run'' or the House of the New Generation.
Though all of Ziona''s family members live in different rooms in the building, they all share the kitchen where they cook for the entire family.

Finally, After boasting of the oldest father in the world, India has bagged another familial world record after it was revealed that a 67-year old man in Mizoram has the largest family in the world with 39 wives, 94 children, 14-daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren.

New satellites to be able to predict earthquakes from 2015

A team of British and Russian scientists have launched a project that could predict when and where earthquakes will occur, and thus save thousands of lives.

The TwinSat project involves the launch of two satellites - one is about the size of a TV set and the other smaller than a shoebox - which will orbit the earth a few hundred kilometres apart, The Independent reported.

Data from the satellites will be collated with data from the ground as the scientists try to understand what natural warnings are given prior to earthquakes.

Peter Sammonds, professor of Geophysics at UCL and another member of the project team, said that because the satellites were so small, the technology was relatively cheap.

If the project progresses goes well, its possible to send up several more of them to increase coverage.

The first satellite launch is planned for 2015.

New Zealand : 'Win a wife' competition

MELBOURNE: A New Zealand based radio company has come under fire after it launched a new Radio contest to 'win a bride'.

The competition in which the winner will fly to  Ukraine and be given the chance to pick a bride from an agency has been severely criticised across the nation.

The winner of the contest, launched by MediaWork's station 'The Rock FM', which is broadcast nationwide. The promotion began on Monday and ends on February 28, with five finalists to be subjected to character assessment from friends and family, and psychometric testing and suitability for marriage testing by a psychologist appointed by MediaWorks.

The prize does not include travel for the Ukraine woman to come to New Zealand.

“At the end of the day, it's up to both people if they decide to get married and return to New Zealand. We're not actually marrying anyone or bringing women back to New Zealand," the programme director said.

Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828 – March 24, 1905)

Google pays tribute to French sci-fi writer Jules Verne with rather an elegant home page animation for FEB-08th on his 183rd birthday.

To salute the author so famed for "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea," the illustration features golden portholes

As a master storyteller of air, sea and land, Verne is of course one of the "fathers of science fiction"; some of his other noted literary voyages include "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Voyage to the Center of the Earth."

Verne wrote about space, air and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised. He is the third most translated individual author in the world, Some of his books have been made into films.

Tri-Valley University : US promises 'good judgement' in handling students

After a strong protest lodged by India over the radio-tagging of Indian students US immigration authorities have promised "good judgement and common sense" while handling the case.

The assurance was given by John Morton, Director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the Indian Ambassador, Meera Shankar.

Hundreds of Indians were enrolled at Tri Valley University in California, which has been shut down on the grounds that it was running a massive immigration racket. Some of the students have been made to wear radio tags or ankle bracelets.

Shankar, during her interaction with the US officials, has also said that students should be allowed to transfer to other universities.

India also wants students to be sent home "without prejudice" instead of being deported so that they can reapply for admission to other colleges.

During the conversation, the US officials, including the ICE Director, are believed to have acknowledged that there are a lot of innocent victims, but did not rule out that there might be some students who were involved in this scam.
