Foods that make you feel full : without making you FAT

Foods that make you feel full : without making you fat :
Citrus Fruits:
Fruits such as grapefruit, lemon, sweet lime, papaya, guava and tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C and fibre. Vitamin C helps the body process fat faster and also stimulates the amino acid known as carnitine — carnitine speeds up the body's fat-burning capacity.

Green Vegetables:
Spinach, asparagus and broccoli have a high thermic effect on the body and a low calorie density.

Popcorn:
Popcorn is rich in fibre and low on calories. Also, since eating it keeps our mouth busy for a longer time, the satiety levels are high.

Oatmeal:
Oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate which takes longer to digest — hence it releases energy slowly, keeping you feeling full for longer.

Almond and Walnuts:
Raw, unsalted nuts, especially almonds and walnuts, provide essential roughage, protein, fat, minerals and micronutrients.

Low-Fat Dairy Products:
Skimmed milk, low fat cheese and yoghurt are a good source of calcium, which helps break down fat cells.

Beans:
Beans are high in fibre and a good source of protein. They also take longer to digest, making you feel full for a longer time.

Whole grains:
Jowar, bajra and ragi contain complex carbohydrates, which release glucose slowly when broken down during digestion.

Apples:
High water content and ample fibre is the reason why you feel full after eating an apple

'Power-hungry' politicians will not let bill pass easily: Hazare

NEW DELHI: After successfully leading the agitation on Lokpal Bill, social activist Anna Hazare has struck a note of caution.

Expressing apprehension over parliamentarians' readiness to pass a strong anti-corruption legislation he has asked his supporters to be prepared for a "bigger battle".

Addressing the media, the 73-year-old social activist said "power-hungry" politicians will not easily accept any bill having stringent provisions against corruption or "shed" the power they enjoy.

"But on this issue, people will get together," he said adding, MPs and MLAs were being elected to serve the people and not to be their masters. "But they (elected representatives) have forgotten this."

Hazare, who has set August 15 as the deadline for passage of the bill, said, "I feel there will be need for a bigger agitation in future (to get the bill passed in Parliament)."

"I don't think they (MPs) will easily accede to the passage of the bill as they feel it will cut down their powers."

India bans Japanese food imports for 3 months

India has banned food imports from Japan for fear of radiation contamination from the country's tsunami-ravaged nuclear power complex.
An Indian Health Ministry statement says the ban took effect Tuesday and will last three months or until credible information shows the hazard has subsided. The situation will be reviewed weekly.
India was already among several countries that increased testing of Japanese imports after the March 11 disaster.
Japan already banned sales of certain food items produced near the Fukushima power plant due to radiation in regional vegetables and milk.
